Woman left scarred after overseas cosmetic surgery

31 October 2019

A British woman who was left scarred following substandard surgery and medical care from an overseas surgeon was awarded £50,000 in compensation.

What Happened: Our client travelled to Poland for cosmetic surgery. The surgery and aftercare were very poor and the surgeon wrongly carried out a breast reduction and left our client with horrific scarring and deformed breasts.

Impact: Our client has been left physically and emotionally scarred and has suffered financially by paying to defend her name in court.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We issued court proceedings in the jurisdiction of England and Wales against the cosmetic holiday organiser, surgeon, clinic and their insurers. Judgement was obtained against the company who organised the trip, along with the surgeon. We seized an opportunity for a settlement when the defendant seemed unable to produce the originals of certain key documents in the litigation.

Decision: Out of court settlement of £50,000.
