HGV Driver Awarded Four-Figure Settlement For Faulty Steps Fall
15 August 2017
An HGV driver took legal action and received a four-figure pay out when the faulty steps of his vehicle collapsed beneath him.
Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Emma Drage is a chartered legal executive in the employers’ liability team at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Sheffield.
Settlement: Four-figure settlement.
What Happened: Our client was climbing down the steps of his HGV when they collapsed beneath him, causing him to fall and sustain long-lasting injuries.
Impact: He sustained a soft tissue injury to his left shoulder. After six sessions of physiotherapy, he made a 90 per cent recovery but some of his symptoms remained.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: We submitted a claim and our client’s employer accepted liability. We obtained the medical evidence and then arranged the physiotherapy on a private basis for our client, the cost of which was added to the claim. All of the evidence was disclosed and a four figure settlement was agreed.
Decision: Four-figure settlement.
