Cyclist Wins Settlement Following Public Liability Claim

19 June 2017

A cyclist injured by a falling car park barrier won a four-figure settlement following legal action.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Chris Timms is a personal injury litigation executive at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Sheffield.

Settlement: Four-figure settlement.

What Happened: Our client was cycling in a car park when the barrier dropped on him without any warning.

Impact: Our client sustained a soft tissue injury to his neck and wrist, along with lacerations to his right arm. He had to take time off work due to the accident as well as finding sleeping, and driving for prolonged periods difficult.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We obtained CCTV footage of the accident, and with liability disputed we issued court proceedings on behalf of the client.

The defendant made an offer, which was slightly higher than our valuation of the claim.

Decision: Our client was happy to accept a four-figure settlement.
