Family of former wood machinist receive six-figure mesothelioma compensation

27 April 2017

A six-figure settlement was paid to the dependent family of a former wood machinist who developed mesothelioma following exposure to asbestos.

What happened: Our client had been employed by William Mallinson & Sons Ltd as a wood machinist in the 1960s. His main duties required him to work with wood but he was also required to cut sheets of asbestos.

Impact: Our client developed mesothelioma and sadly succumbed to his illness in 2014.

How Slater and Gordon helped: We obtained medical evidence to support the claim, detailing the diagnosis of mesothelioma. Our client’s adult son was dependent on him for health care and support. We created witness care statements and negotiated a settlement the week before the trial.
