Four-Figure Damages For French Crossing Accident
01 December 2016
A British businessman was awarded a four-figure settlement when he was hit by a car while overseas on a pedestrian crossing in France.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Sundeesh Nandra is a personal injury paralegal specialising in travel litigation at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
Settlement: Four-figure settlement
What Happened: Our client was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing in France, with the green light in his favour, when he was struck by a car. The car failed to slow down and stop in time as it approached the crossing. Upon impact, he was thrown into the air and hit the windscreen.
Impact: Our client suffered soft tissue injuries to his back, shoulders, elbows and hips.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: We liaised with the insurer of the French driver on behalf of our client. We then issued proceedings on behalf of our client as the insurer was not forthcoming with any settlement proposals. However, following the commencement of court proceedings, we were able to negotiate with the other side and managed to reach an amicable settlement for our client.
Decision: Four-figure settlement.
