19 December 2016

A cyclist received a four-figure settlement for injuries sustained when a motorist drove the wrong way on a roundabout.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Fern Joyce is a litigation executive specialising in personal injury claims at Slater and Gordon in Sheffield.

Settlement: Four-figure settlement.

What Happened: Our client was a cyclist who was hit by a driver going the wrong way around a roundabout.

Impact: Our client suffered a knee injury as well as damage to his elbow which restricted his ability to work and in his social activities.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We fought against the defendant’s denial of liability. They provided footage from a witness’ dashcam advising it showed our client was at fault. What this actually showed was the defendant cutting the corner of the roundabout painted onto the road, effectively going the wrong way around the roundabout. Liability was then admitted. We submitted an offer for our client which was accepted by the defendant’s insurers. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome.

Decision: Four-figure settlement
