Compensation For Elderly Woman Hit by Taxi

16 November 2016

A senior citizen was awarded a four-figure settlement in damages after she was hit by a taxi, affecting her mobility.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Fern Joyce is a litigation executive specialising in personal injury claims at Slater and Gordon in Sheffield.

Settlement: Four-figure settlement

What Happened: Our client was an elderly woman who was on her way to her local club with a friend when she was hit by a taxi.

Impact: Our client suffered a soft tissue injury. As a result her mobility was affected and she could not do everything for herself that she previously could.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We arranged physiotherapy to help our client regain her mobility.

We investigated and located the taxi firm involved in the incident. The defendant denied involvement and the defendant insurers denied liability on the basis no accident had been reported to them. We obtained confirmation from the taxi company of the driver attending the job and obtained three witness statements from members of the club who saw the accident.

We negotiated a four-figure settlement with the defendant, which our client was happy to accept.

Decision: Four-figure settlement
