Flight Passenger Compensated For Head Injuries
04 October 2016
An airline passenger was awarded a four-figure settlement in compensation for injuries sustained when a bottle fell from an overhead compartment.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Yasmina Villar-Lopez is a personal injury solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London
What Happened: Our client was on a flight when another passenger opened the overhead storage compartment and a full glass litre bottle fell out, hitting our client’s head.
Impact: She suffered a gash on her head leaving a scar, memory loss and headaches for over six months. She was left with a permanent scar on her head but, luckily, it was mainly under the hair so the cosmetic impact was not severe.
Our client had to stay in bed for the first couple of days of her trip and, when she went out, her energy was severely depleted. She was also unable to participate fully in the conference for which she was travelling to attend.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: We obtained medical evidence and managed to secure a prompt admission of liability and fair compensation for our client’s injuries.
Decision: A settlement of £7,500.
