The victim of a dangerous workplace accident was compensated with a five-figure settlement when they suffered multiple broken bones caused by a fall.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Joanne Markham is a personal injury lawyer at the Slater and Gordon offices in Sheffield.

Settlement: £23,000

What Happened: Our client was walking to a machine at work and had to step over a number of obstructions on the floor. He placed his left foot onto a stud which was protruding from the floor. He lost his balance and fell.

Impact: Our client sustained a fracture to his right ankle and a fracture to his left fifth metatarsal. After the accident the stud was cut so it was flush with the floor and yellow paint was placed on the floor to warn others of the obstruction.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: An examination by a medical expert was arranged on two separate occasions due to his on-going symptoms. We also managed to recover the client’s loss of earnings incurred as a result of his accident at work.

Decision: Responsibility was admitted by the employer and a five-figure settlement was awarded for damages.
