Victims of German Car Crash Awarded Damages

19 May 2016

Two victims were compensated for injuries sustained when they were involved in a road traffic accident in Germany.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: A litigation executive in Slater and Gordon's travel law team in Manchester.

Settlement: £3,700 and £2,400

What Happened: Our clients were involved in a road traffic accident in Germany in August 2011, when another vehicle ploughed into the back of their car.

Impact: The first client sustained neck and back pain as a result of the accident, along with an injury to the right knee, a heel fracture and psychological injuries. The second client also sustained injury to their neck and back, along with psychological injuries.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: As we have a large amount of experience dealing with accidents which have occurred abroad, we were able to liaise with the handling agents for the German insurer of the other driver who subsequently admitted blame. Court proceedings were issued and a trial was set for July 2016. However, we successfully negotiated an early settlement in March 2016.

Decision: The clients were pleased to accept settlements of £3,700 and £2,400 respectively.
