A six-figure settlement was awarded to the partner of a full-time mother killed in a road traffic accident for the costs of child care.
Settlement Value: £320,000
What Happened: Our client’s partner, and mother to their three children, was crossing a road when she was knocked down by a motor vehicle.
Impact: She was fatally injured as a result of the incident, and our client stopped working to provide full-time care for their children.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: From an early stage the defendant denied responsibility. The defendant was found guilty of dangerous driving. Interim payments were made to our client to meet the costs of caring for the children, and steps were also taken to install a full-time nanny and housekeeper so our client could return to work.
Decision: A settlement of £320,000 was reached.
