Holidaymaker who suffered food poisoning at the Hotel Fanabe in Costa Sur, Tenerife awarded settlement for damages from foodborne illness.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Simon Weilding is a travel litigation lawyer at Slater and Gordon in Manchester.

Settlement: £5,000

What Happened: Our client was on an all-inclusive package holiday at the Hotel Fanabe, Costa Sur, Tenerife in 2013. He fell ill with gastric illness and suffered diarrhoea and vomiting.

Impact: Due to the severity of the symptoms, the client was admitted to hospital at the resort and placed on a drip for several days. Fortunately, he made a full recovery within a few weeks.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We brought a claim under the package travel regulations. The tour operator denied liability for the client’s illness but we managed to successfully negotiate a settlement which the client was happy with.

Decision: Total settlement of £5,000.00 for the illness suffered and associated expenses incurred.
