Compensation for Dublin Car Crash Pursued in the UK
24 February 2016
Settlement awarded for injuries sustained in a road accident whilst stationary in traffic in Dublin. The claim was pursued in the UK.
What Happened: In July 2013 our client was on holiday in Ireland with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a rear seat passenger in a vehicle travelling through Dublin. As our client’s vehicle was stationary at red traffic lights, it was struck from behind by another vehicle.
Impact: Sustained a severe sprain/strain to her right foot and a moderate sprain/strain to her left ribs. She also suffered from psychological problems of severe fear of travel described as post-traumatic stress.
How Slater and Gordon Helped: Initially we secured early rehabilitative treatment for our client facilitating access to specialist medical assistance.
Initial settlement offers from the defendant’s insurer were extremely low and so, with our significant experience dealing with claims of this nature, we recommend proceeding further.
In view of the defendant insurer’s approach to our client’s claim it was necessary to commence court proceedings. We directed our client through this process ensuring minimal interruption to her day-to-day life. Shortly into proceedings we managed to negotiate a substantially increased settlement for our client.
Decision: Post-issue settlement of £18,750
