A settlement of £11,000 was awarded for injuries sustained from a slip and fall on badly lit steps in Lanzarote.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Simon Weilding is a litigation executive at Slater and Gordon in Manchester.
What Happened: December 2012 in Lanzarote, our client, Kevin Lloyd, was on an all-inclusive package holiday and was walking in the hotel grounds on his way to the toilet facilities and had to go down some steps. The steps had a lip at the top of them and the area was badly lit. Kevin tripped over the lip and fell down the stairs landing heavily on his face.
Impact: As a result of the accident, Kevin sustained multiple injuries to his face requiring stiches and nasal surgery has been recommended. Kevin also suffered soft tissue injuries to his neck / shoulder and was shocked / distressed. He required hospital treatment in resort.
How Did Slater and Gordon Help? Acting for Kevin under a Conditional Fee Agreement Slater and Gordon (UK) LLP were instructed to pursue a claim against the Tour Operator (Thomas Cook Tour Operations Limited) under the Package Travel Regulations. Liability for the incident was denied but we successfully negotiated settlement in our client’s favour.
Decision: The case settled for £11,000.00.
