Slater and Gordon Personal Injury Lawyers were instructed by a client who suffered chemical burns as the result of professional negligence at a hair salon.

Slater and Gordon Lawyer: Sarah Blood is a Personal Injury Solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Derby.

Settlement: Confidential

What Happened: Our client attended an appointment at a local hair salon where one of its employees applied perm solution to our client’s head. She suffered a chemical burn to her scalp as a result of the employee failing to remove the solution in a timely manner.

Impact: Our client suffered significant discomfort and consequently lost some of her hair. As this happened three days before Christmas it was particularly distressing to her as she was sensitive about her appearance and suffered a loss of confidence as a result.

How Slater and Gordon Helped: We helped our client pursue a claim for compensation for an incident that had a significant impact on her appearance.

Decision: Liability was admitted and medical evidence obtained from a trichologist confirmed that our client had suffered chemical burns and associated hair loss/breakage. The trichologist estimated that it would take 21 months from the date of the damage for our client to reach her pre-accident hair length.
