Over £140,000 for Life-Threatening Injuries following Head-On Collision

14 September 2015

A man who sustained life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision has received substantial compensation.

Settlement value: Over £140,000.

Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Jonathan Reid is a Principal Personal Injury Lawyer at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Sheffield.

What happened: The man was driving to work early one morning when he was in a head-on collision with another car that was driving on the wrong side of the road.

He sustained life-threatening internal injuries, significant injuries to his ankle and foot, and required emergency surgery.

How Slater and Gordon helped: Our client made a good recovery and was able to return to his old job, but he subsequently needed to reduce his hours by one day a week because of the continuing effects of his injuries.

We obtained all necessary evidence to prove our client’s loss of earning capacity, including appropriate medical evidence and proof from the employer as to how our client’s injuries affect his work and the risks to his employment in the future.

This was a major issue in the case and was eventually reflected in the settlement.

Decision: The claim was settled in favour of our client who was awarded compensation in excess of £140,000.
