A bereaved daughter and partner received substantial compensation after their loved one died following a road traffic accident.
Slater and Gordon Lawyer: A Clinical Negligence Associate at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in London.
Settlement value: £87,500
What happened: The man was involved in a road traffic accident and suffered a fractured sternum. He received treatment at a hospital and was given the painkiller codeine.
He suffered from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and had difficulty breathing. On discharge from hospital, the codeine made his breathing difficulties much worse, to the point where he sadly collapsed and died.
How We Helped: Our Associate Solicitor was instructed to pursue a personal injury claim on behalf of the deceased's partner and daughter. She was also asked to investigate a clinical negligence claim.
Decision: The defendant driver admitted liability for the accident and an agreement was reached by all parties to settle the claim in full without resorting to pursuing a claim against the hospital.
Our Associate Solicitor negotiated a final settlement of £87,500 compensation.
