£675,000 for Widow after Hospital Misdiagnosed Husband's Cancer
29 May 2015
Slater and Gordon Solicitor Charlotte Moore was instructed by the widow of a man who died from rectal cancer after he was misdiagnosed.
Slater and Gordon Solicitor: Charlotte Moore is a Clinical Negligence Solicitor at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Manchester.
Settlement Value: £675,000
What happened: Charlotte's client was the widow of a 42-year-old man who died from rectal cancer. The hospital performed a rectal examination on Charlotte's client's husband but there was a 13-month delay in diagnosing and treating his cancer.
The hospital admitted negligence and that, had the examination been performed properly, the cancer would have been diagnosed and treatment could have begun in time.
With appropriate treatment, on the balance of probabilities, Charlotte's client's husband would have been cured of his disease.
Impact: "No amount of money can compensate for the loss of a loved one, but the settlement amount will allow my client to continue to support her children."
