Police Officer Forced into Ill Health Retirement due to Injury
01 April 2015
Senior personal injury lawyer Nicholas Collins of Slater and Gordon Lawyers successfully settled a personal injury claim for a police officer who was involved in a road traffic accident.
At the time of the accident Nicholas’ client was driving a police vehicle. She was driving behind her colleague who was driving a police van.
Suddenly without warning, the driver of the police van braked sharply causing Nicholas’ client to plough into the rear of the police van.
The impact of the collision caused Nicholas’ client to sustain whiplash and soft tissue injuries which subsequently led to ill health retirement.
After negotiations, liability was agreed 65/35 in Nicholas’ client’s favour and the case settled for £250,000 compensation.
