Self-Employed Contractor Awarded Over £30,000 Compensation
09 March 2015
Slater and Gordon Personal Injury Lawyer Tracey Graham successfully secured over £30,000 in compensation for a contractor who was injured whilst working at a chemical company.
Tracey’s client was working for Croda Chemicals at the time of the accident with his colleague. Tracey’s client was in the process of removing a pump from the ground floor, unbolting the nuts and bolts which held it down, as he was doing so, he was hit by a small section of pipe which fell from above, possibly two floors above.
The pipe landed directly onto Tracey’s client’s left forearm which subsequently broke on impact. As Tracy’s client was unbolting nuts and bolts, both of his arms were raised to shoulder height in a bent position at the time of the accident.
Tracey’s client was self-employed and lost a lot of business because he couldn’t work for several weeks while he was recovering from his broken arm.
Due to the injuries sustained and the loss of earnings for Tracey’s client, Tracey successfully settled his case for £32,306.64 compensation.
