Paul Sankey's client suffers pressure sores resulting from Medical Negligence
29 March 2012
A 32 year old police officer was admitted to hospital after developing a tumour on his spine which left him severely disabled from lack of feeling and movement below the waist. Whilst in hospital he developed pressure sores on his buttock. The pressure sores required regular dressing and were a nuisance although (because of a lack of sensation) they did not cause pain. They had resolved within 5 months. A nursing expert was highly critical of failures to take adequate measures to prevent the development of pressure sores. In response to a letter of claim, liability was admitted and the claim settled for £3,500.
