Senior employee sought advice on management restructure
15 March 2011
We were asked to advise a senior employee of a major international pharma company upon the company’s proposed management restructure which he felt might lead to his redundancy. Our client was being placed under pressure to accept an alternative role which was a promotion but which he did not wish to accept. His preference was to be made redundant because due to his length of service and seniority, the value of his redundancy package was in the region of £250,000. We provided him with advice upon the terms of the restructure, how it would affect him, and whether or not the offer of alternative employment was an offer of suitable alternative employment which he could reasonably refuse.
