Botched Operation Leaves Woman Infertile

28 January 2011

A lady was admitted to hospital in April 2010 for an operation to remove her left ovary as a cyst had been discovered.  Due to the family history of cancer, she agreed to the removal of the ovary as a safety precaution. Following the operation it was discovered in a routine check up that the surgeon had accidently removed both of our client’s ovaries in error.  This mistake meant that our client unwillingly went through the menopause, six years earlier than anticipated. Liability was admitted by the NHS trust, and with help from our expert medical negligence solicitors, our client was awarded £15,000 in compensation.
