Dockyard Worker's Widow Receives Mesothelioma Compensation

29 July 2010

The widow of a former Devonport dockyard worker recently received £167,000 in settlement of her husband's mesothelioma claim. He had worked in the Plymouth dockyard in the 1960's and 1970's. His exposure to asbestos may well have arisen from some direct contact, however he was also equally dangerously required to work in poorly ventilated areas where asbestos lagging activities were taking place nearby. It was important that the settlement also included compensation for the future costs of household maintenance that would have otherwise been undertaken by her husband.
