Julie Morris's case highlights the importance of Equal Pay Questionnaires

12 November 2009

Russell Jones & Walker's Julie Morris acted for a woman who was the only female member on her employer’s senior management team. She was dismissed and raised a complaint about a key element of the compensation that she had been told she would receive throughout her employment but had never actually received. This led to us submitting an equal pay questionnaire, through which we identified that there a large number of pay disparities between her and a number of male comparators, both on salary and other contractual benefits. This shows that the initial concerns about her package were actually less significant and there were more significant equal pay issues. This is a common issue and at RJW we will usually recommend the use of an equal pay questionnaire which can assist in securing further evidence and grounds of additional equal pay complaints.
