Defective machinery at work causes injuries to employee

06 February 2008

One of our claimant had an accident at work due to defective machinery. The claimant was a brewery worker who delivered kegs of beers to various pubs, clubs and restaurants. At one particular pub he and a colleague had to deliver an 11 gallon keg to a downstairs cellar down three flights of stairs.Skids were used to help the process but they were not clamped or secured in place. When the keg was sent down the skid by the colleague the skids rose and trapped the claimant’s hand where he sustained the loss to the tip of his dominant left thumb. Surgery was required and the accident had reduced his grip strength. Liability was admitted in full and damages were agreed in the sum of £20, 000 by our professional solicitors.
