Get to know Yvonne
I qualified as a solicitor in 1986 and have over three decades of experience in representing clients who’ve suffered as a result of medical negligence, and I have spent the majority of my career work at Slater and Gordon having started at the firm in 1999.
I specialise in dealing with complex and high value clinical negligence cases and have extensive I experience in all types of medical negligence cases, particularly in relation to high value and complex birth injury, brain injury and spinal/vascular injury claims.
I’m known for my ability to achieve high awards of damages in maximum severity cases. I am also known for my tenacity and determination in representing families who are dealing on a daily with devastating injuries and need my support to achieve a better future.
I can't thank you enough for all your hard work. The excellent result means that my child’s future is now secure and I know that she will have the best care and therapy to make sure that she has the best life that she possibly can which means so much to me. Client testimonial (for Yvonne Agnew)
We are very proud of how our child has overcome so many challenges but we are also now relieved that the future is secure and allows for so many more opportunities and allows the whole family to have a better, less stressful life. Client testimonial (for Yvonne Agnew)
Yvonne is an exceptional solicitor who conducts the highest value and complex cases that are pursued in this jurisdiction; she is admired for her outstanding expertise and client care by QCs, Barristers, Solicitors and Judges alike and any client who has her as their solicitor is very fortunate indeed! Professional testimonial (for Yvonne Agnew)
One of my career highlights was when my expertise was recognised, and I was asked to form part of the working party appointed by the Welsh Assembly Government to advise on the implementation of the Redress Act in Wales.
I am also honoured to work alongside respected charities to ensure that the most vulnerable in society have the care and support that they need. I consider it a personal highlight every time a client can look forward to a secure financial future with the care they need to ensure a better quality of life.
I have also worked on several high profile cases that have gained media attention, including a case where a woman who suffered catastrophic brain injuries when she was deprived of oxygen as a baby, received in compensation which reflects the severity of the injuries sustained and the future care costs, as they now care 24 hours a day.
The 2023 edition of the Legal 500 ranks me a ‘Leading Individual’ and referred to me as "a first-class lawyer in every respect."
I’m also ranked in the 2023 edition of Chambers and Partners as a Band 2 lawyer, which states: “Yvonne Agnew is noted for her experience in the field of clinical negligence. She has strength handling claims relating to negligent post-operative care and birth injuries, including cerebral palsy cases." They noted my strengths as being "knowledgeable, personable and wants the best outcome in matters."
