Slater and Gordon partner with charity, Lean On Me Foundation
Set up in honour of Jesse Owen, Lean On Me focuses on navigating the difficult journey of grief with Slater and Gordon on hand to offer legal support.
In December 2023, Jesse Owen alongside his two close friends lost their lives in a horrific car collision. This left the families and friends as well as the wider community devastated. Following the incident, it became apparent that those who were affected by grief, needed support in navigating the difficult journey of grief.
The Lean On Me Foundation is committed to providing support and resources as well as cultivating a compassionate community within the foundation. The foundations’ goal is to ensure that no person feels alone in their grief and is actively working to raise awareness about youth grief, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, and ensuring every young person knows they are deserving of support and understanding during their time of need.
Kayleigh Taylor, a solicitor in the personal injury team says of the partnership: “The foundation was created following a tragedy that had a devastating impact on my local rural community. For me to be both personally and professionally involved in the Lean On Me Foundation is an honour. Those contacting the foundation need assistance navigating a period of extreme uncertainty and sadness. To provide a range of legal services offered by Slater and Gordon gives some certainty and comfort during a vulnerable time to those who need it most.”
Lean On Me Foundation offers a variety of programmes, workshops, and counselling services for young people where they can express their emotions, share their experiences, and receive guidance on dealing with loss.
