Slater and Gordon join Back Up Trust’s Legal Panel

In our latest chapter supporting people after spinal cord injury, we are excited to announce that we have been appointed to Back Up Trust’s Legal Panel.

11 July 2025

Working with Back Up Trust in the Home Counties, the new partnership will enable individuals and families affected by spinal cord injury to access increased levels of specialist support in rebuilding their lives, delivering advice to those seeking legal guidance. Further to this, our team can signpost clients to Back Up Trust to increase the bespoke interventions available to them.

Through our work with charities like Back Up Trust, it highlights our continuous promise to deliver high-quality services to our clients through a multi-disciplinary approach to care.

Those with spinal cord injury seeking our help can access various support services through our in-house rehabilitation team and our charity partners to ensure their recovery is as effective and well-supported as possible.

Our Relationship Manager, Caroline Wareing, is also dedicated to supporting our clients with spinal cord injury, helping them access these vital services. As a wheelchair user for over 16 years, she has lived experience and understanding of the impact of spinal cord injury. Caroline enables clients to identify the right support they may need to help them negotiate the way ahead after traumatic injury.

Back Up Trust

Our vision is a world where people with spinal cord injury can reach their full potential – Back Up Trust’s vision.

Back Up Trust is one of the leading spinal charities in the UK, which has worked with families across the country for almost four decades to support them in rebuilding their lives after spinal cord injury.

Between 2023 and 2024, Back Up Trust provided support to over 700 people through its mentorship support, family support, online forums and workshops; including the ‘Next Steps’ course, dedicated to assist people with building life skills following their injury.

Additionally, Back Up Trust values its community, where the team have built a valuable network of people who can connect with each other through their experiences of spinal cord injury.

The charity also holds a special place for Caroline Wareing who has also volunteered extensively with Back Up Trust; working directly with families to answer their questions or concerns based on her own experiences with spinal cord injury.

A statement from Tracey Benson

Tracey Benson, Head of Serious Injury (South) at Slater and Gordon, says: “As specialist serious injury lawyers, who have supported whole families after SCI for decades, we are very pleased to have been appointed to the legal panel of Back Up Trust. Working with the charity across the Home Counties, we can increase the support available to people after SCI and ensure they can access the highest standards of legal advice.

“We have supported the work of Back Up Trust for many years, and have seen first-hand the positive impact it has made to the lives of our clients, and our shared ambitions to give people the most fulfilled and independent lives possible after SCI align completely. We look forward to working with this brilliant charity to continue to push for the best outcomes possible after life-changing spinal injury.”
