The Speaking Out Investigation into the abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile at Broadmoor hospital is appealing today for anyone with relevant information to come forward. They are keen for people to share their experiences, however minor they believe them to be.
The Investigation is concerned that there may be former patients, staff and former Department of Health staff who had contact with Jimmy Savile that have not yet come forward. The Investigation has said that from the information provided so far it appears Savile first had contact with Broadmoor Hospital in 1967 after a patient wrote to him. Savile’s last visit is believed to be in around 2004.
We support the Investigation’s appeal and encourage anyone who has any information to speak out. It is vital that the Investigation is presented with as much information as possible so that they can obtain the full picture of what happened. We are very supportive of the Investigation and encourage anyone with any relevant information to contact the Investigation as soon as possible.
Slater and Gordon specialist Abuse Lawyer Liz Dux commented this morning on Radio Berkshire, “Many of our clients have already given evidence before the Stoke Mandeville Investigation and the Leeds General Infirmary Investigation and most have found that they have been listened to with great sensitivity and understanding.” Slater and Gordon welcome the Speaking Out Broadmoor Investigation’s proactive approach.
Only 2 of our 67 victims originate from abuse at Broadmoor Hospital and we are not aware of any other firms representing Broadmoor victims. Liz continued, “We now have a very detailed picture of the way Savile operated. He was a prolific opportunist. We are concerned that because of the high degree of vulnerability of the former Broadmoor patients, they may be finding it difficult to come forward and tell their story. We hope this announcement goes some way to assist them”.
If you have any relevant information we urge you to contact the Investigation. Their contact details are as follows:
