A seven-figure sum of compensation has been awarded to a woman on the grounds of clinical negligence following a case at the High Court in London.
Morwenna Ganz has been granted an undisclosed multi-million pound damages settlement after two doctors diagnosed her with a virus when she was actually suffering with pneumonia when she was 14, This is Local London reports.
Ms Ganz, who is now 26 years old, was examined by Dr John Lloyd and Dr Amanda Childs at a surgery in Teddington but then visited Kingston Hospital when her symptoms persisted.
It was then established that she had pneumonia, but the patient slipped into a coma and is now severely brain damaged.
Her family subsequently launched a compensation claim on her behalf and the money she has been granted will be used to pay for the 24-hour care she will require for the rest of her life, as well as specialist equipment for her home.
