Paralysed woman awarded damages after road traffic accident
A road traffic accident that left a woman paralysed has resulted in her being awarded a seven-figure compensation sum.
Carol Bright sustained life-changing neck and spinal injuries when she was struck by a van while waiting to be picked up from work in Bromley in September 2010 and subsequently spent 14 months in hospital.
The 59-year-old grandmother-of-four subsequently had to move from her home into a specially-adapted bungalow due to her former house not being accessible by wheelchair.
Consequently, Ms Bright has now been awarded an undisclosed multi-million pound damages settlement from the Motor Insurers' Bureau to pay for the care she will require for the rest of her life.
“My life changed so suddenly and it has had a devastating impact on my family as well as me," she stated.
Ms Bright went on to say it is "heart-breaking" she will not be able to hold her new grandchild.
