Compensation on the grounds if unfair dismissal and age discrimination is being sought by an ex-director of a major construction firm, it has emerged.
Pak Wong has taken Bovis Homes - a company with more than 500 members of staff nationwide - to an employment tribunal after he was sacked following a 23-year stint with the organisation, the Gloucestershire Echo reports.
The company claimed the 57-year-old - who fulfilled a commercial directorship position - was fired solely due to the impact of a restructuring programme taking place across the firm.
However, Mr Wong believes he was sacked only because of his age and the fact the company was looking to save money.
In addition, the professional told his hearing in Birmingham that Bovis failed to follow proper procedure when dismissing him, meaning he is also claiming for breach of contract.
"I was deeply upset and the situation affected the whole of my family," he added.
