Family to seek damages after fatal accident?
The family of a man who passed away during a fatal accident at work may decide to launch a personal injury compensation claim on his behalf.
Paul Gibbons died at the age of 59 in September 2009 when he fell a distance of around eight metres through a fragile roof while working for Acryflor in Penryn.
At the time of the incident, the self-employed contractor was working on a project on the roof when the surface gave way. He died later the same day in hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
An investigation into his death by the Health and Safety Executive established that Acryflor - a firm that now trades under the name Onyx Europe - had failed to put any safety nets or crash decks beneath where Mr Gibbons was working.
In addition, the company also did not properly plan the work, meaning the worker's health and safety was put in jeopardy.
