Portsmouth FC coaching staff facing redundancy
Employment law advice may be required by two former football professionals after it emerged they could be facing redundancy.
According to The News, Guy Whittingham and Stuart Gray - who are first-team coaches at Portsmouth Football Club - have both been informed their jobs are under threat at the end of the current season.
Portsmouth - who were relegated from the Championship last Saturday (April 21st) - are in deep financial trouble and the club's administrators are looking to implement severe cost-cutting measures at the club in the near future.
At present, Pompey maintain an annual wage bill of £12 million and their players have recently been asked to take wage reductions in order to keep the club afloat.
And, as part of administrator Trevor Birch's efforts to reduce the club's outgoings, Mr Whittingham and Mr Gray have been informed that one of them will be made redundant in the coming weeks.
