Tribunal awards employees unfair dismissal damages
Unfair dismissal compensation totalling more than £80,000 has been awarded to a group of workers following an employment tribunal.
The ten former employees of Rocket Post Production and ILab have been involved in legal action against these companies for more than two years after claiming they were unjustly sacked, as well as not being paid fully and experiencing compulsory redundancy, Broadcast Now reports.
A previous ruling in their favour had been overturned upon appeal from the firms, but Judge Harjit Grewal has now decided the professionals are entitled to damages because of the lack of a proper consultation period.
"We consider this is a case where there was a complete failure to provide any of the required information and to consult," the official stated.
Consequently, the group have been granted £81,375 in compensation.
This comes after the London Evening Standard reported that Dr June Alexis won an unfair dismissal case against Haringey Council after being fired from her role as headteacher at John Loughborough School.
