Back injury leads to £100k compensation claim
A serious back injury sustained in an accident at work has led to a woman pursuing a compensation settlement of £100,000.
According to the York Press, Teresa Bialochleb hurt herself while operating at the former Trebor Bassett factory in York back in January 2006 and has since been unable to work.
In a writ served to the Court of Appeal in London, the 52-year-old claims she was consistently asked to lift boxes that were too heavy and the strain from this activity has now caused severe damage to her back.
On the day she was injured, Ms Bialocheb stated she had been lifting containers weighing more than 15 kgs for around four hours and added she is now dependant on benefits.
The woman went on to indicate that she even struggles to do everyday tasks such as housework.
This comes after the Daily Telegraph reported that costume designer Sunwoo Chun is seeking damages of £300,000 after being left paralysed in an accident at work.
