Substantial compensation on the grounds of clinical negligence has been awarded to a widower after a hospital admitted liability for the death of his wife.
Michael Tidd has received a six-figure sum from Frimley Park Hospital - an institution managed by an NHS foundation trust established in 2005 - following an admission that medical professionals there were responsible for his spouse Alexandra passing away in 2006.
The woman was admitted to the hospital after suffering an asthma attack, but several blunders by staff resulted in her suffering cardiac arrest after falling into a coma due to a lack of oxygen.
Mr Tidd stated that doctors there failed to keep him updated with his loved one's condition when they informed him she would need to stay in overnight for observation.
After the award of compensation, he said: "No amount of money can ever replace my wife and the mother of our three sons."
