Roofer receives injury compensation of £340k
An industrial roofer has been awarded a personal injury compensation settlement of £340,000 after an accident at work left him comatose for more than a week.
Timothy Kirk fell some 45 feet through a roof while working at a factory in Barnsley for R&K Ward Roofing Contractors - which has been established in Yorkshire for around 20 years - and subsequently required numerous surgical procedures and was in a coma for 11 days, the Sheffield Telegraph reports.
Mr Kirk is no longer able to work due to the ongoing health problems he suffers from due to the accident and has therefore been awarded the sum of £340,000 from his former employer to help cover the cost of his post-traumatic stress and physiotherapy.
"When you have an accident like that it leaves you without a job, without a life. Getting through it has been a real family effort," he told the news source.
