High Court 'imposes cooling off period on high-profile divorce case'

A high-profile divorce case has been suspended for a period of six months in order to give the parties involved chance to "cool off", it has been reported.

According to the Independent, the disharmonious separation between property development expert Scott Young and his ex-wife Michelle has witnessed a week of "bitter exchanges" in the High Court and will therefore not resume until October.

The proceedings are largely based around the fact that Mr Young - who was once involved in business deals with the likes of Simon Cowell and Sir Tom Hunter - claims to have lost his estimated fortune of £400 million in a Russian contract that went wrong.

However, his former spouse disputes this and has said that her husband has some £2 billion stored in various offshore accounts, which has led to an acrimonious divorce.

This comes after research by the Centre for Social Justice recently indicated that separation rates are going up in the UK.
