Motorist awarded £1.35m injury damages
A female motorist has been awarded in excess of £1 million in personal injury compensation following a road traffic accident.
Sophie Wilkinson, who is now 20 years old, sustained life-threatening injuries and was left in a coma due to the effects of an incident in 2007 and, as a direct result of the crash, requires round-the-clock care.
Ms Wilkinson was 17 at the time of the crash - which occurred while she was a passenger in a friend's vehicle - and left her with major head injuries and a ruptured pancreas.
However, the High Court in London has now granted her an interim compensation settlement of £1.35 million, which will then be increased at a further hearing scheduled to take place in 2012.
This award will be used to adapt Ms Wilkinson's family home in Hertfordshire for her care needs.
Her father Andrew commented: "We're over the moon that we can finally get Sophie home."
