A cycle accident claim pursued by experts at Russell, Jones and Walker (RJW) has resulted in a student being awarded £280,000 in personal injury compensation.
According to the London Evening Standard, 31-year-old Doris Barrera-Torrico of Gipsy Hill had her leg crushed during an incident in December 2007 in which a lorry ran over her at a junction on the Holloway Road.
This resulted in Ms Barrera-Torrico embarking on a three-year legal battle, but, with the help of RJW specialist solicitor Paul Kitson, she has now been granted a substantial sum for her ordeal in an out-of-court settlement.
The Chilean victim - who was a national triathlon champion in her homeland - told the news source that the incident had "changed her life forever", as she had to have nine operations on the affected area and has now lost almost all of the tissue on her limb.
Mr Kitson of RJW - which has more than 400 employees - commented: "Doris's case highlights the need for cycle awareness on our busy streets."
