Sophie Dahl launches libel action
A celebrity has taken legal action against the Daily Mail over a story it published about her.
Sophie Dahl, the granddaughter of author Roald Dahl, is suing over a piece printed by the publication entitled "March of anorexia chic", the Press Gazette reports.
According to a writ filed at the High Court, the article suggested that she had previously brought legal proceedings against column author Liz Jones when she was editor of fashion magazine Marie Claire for "having done nothing more than simply (and accurately) describe her as being 'realistically curvy'".
Dahl claims this is defamatory towards her and is seeking damages and costs from the publishers Associated Newspapers.
According to the cook, author and former model - who married musician Jamie Cullum earlier this year - she has suffered considerable injury to her reputation, as well as embarrassment, hurt and distress.
She is also looking for an injunction banning repetition of the allegations.
