A boy who was left disabled as a result of medical negligence during his birth delivery is to receive a six-figure compensation settlement.
Four years ago, Matthew Griffiths was born at a hospital in Wales and errors made by midwives caused him to be left with a severely damaged arm, the BBC reports.
His mother, Diane, said, "He can only use one hand properly. He can't dress himself, he can't cut food up, drinking with a cup is a problem."
She also noted that he will have a limited choice of jobs when he gets older and will not be able to engage in manual labour.
In a new development, Matthew's parents have been told they can expect to be awarded a six-figure compensation settlement from the Hywel Dda Health Board.
Hywel Dda Health Board apologised and said that lessons have been learned as a result of the case.
