Actress Kate Winslet is suing a publication over alleged libel concerning a story it featured.
The 33-year-old, who has starred in films such as Titanic, Revolutionary Road and The Reader - for which she recently won an Oscar - is said to be seeking damages of £150,000 from the Daily Mail.
The newspaper published an article entitled: "Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the World's most irritating actress?", which she says was defamatory.
In a high court writ, Winslet accuses the paper of stating that she lied publically about her exercise regime.
It says that she has been distressed and embarrassed by the story and has also suffered damage to her personal and professional reputation.
Winslet has warned that unless the Daily Mail provides a satisfactory undertaking, she will seek an injunction banning repetition of the claims.
However, the newspaper refused to give an undertaking that it will not repeat the allegations.
