Motorbike accident victim secures compensation of £450k
A man who was injured when the motorbike he was a passenger on hit a car has been awarded a payout.
At the age of 16, Richard Dady was travelling on the back of a bike being ridden by a 15-year-old unqualified rider, the Hertfordshire Mercury reports.
He sustained multiple broken bones and brain damage as a result of the impact, which occurred in the Essex market town of Waltham Abbey.
Mr Dady was forced to spend six months in hospital as a result of his injuries before returning to the care of his family.
Through his mother, he sued the driver of the car and, in a recent high court settlement, he was offered compensation of £450,000 by the driver's insurers.
However, no liability was admitted by the firm.
Approving the settlement, Mr Justice Eady said: "All that remains is for me to wish Richard and his mother well for the future."
