Holidaymakers seek compensation over stomach bug
Two holidaymakers are seeking compensation after suffering from a stomach bug while in the Dominican Republic.
Jacqueline and James O'Sullivan were staying at the Ocean Sands Hotel when they began suffering from sickness.
Three days into the break, Ms O'Sullivan began showing symptoms of stomach pains, sickness and diarrhoea, meaning she was confined to her bedroom, the East Anglian Daily Times reports.
She was later admitted to hospital and was put on a drip.
Her husband, meanwhile, had stomach pains which cleared up within a day.
Since returning home, Ms O'Sullivan claims to have experienced further complications which have resulted in her attending more doctors' appointments.
She said: "I have been back and forth to the doctors. They have said it is possible I caught viral hepatitis."
Along with her husband, she is taking legal action against tour operator First Choice, which is part of the TUI Travel group of companies.
The company said it could not comment on the case due to legal reasons.
