Couple seek compensation after contracting illness in Egypt
A couple from the UK who claim they contracted illnesses while on holiday in Egypt are seeking a payout, it has been revealed.
According to reports in the Staffordshire and North Cheshire Sentinel, Nina Shenton and her partner Richard Gerrard allege that they came down with stomach bugs just hours after arriving at a hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, which is a coastal area popular with tourists.
According to Ms Shenton, there were a lot of guests at the hotel who were complaining about feeling unwell.
She added: "To me, the food was disgusting. We felt the meat was undercooked and the buffet was left out for long periods of time, with new food being piled on top of the old food - we even noticed flies landing on the food."
The 20-year-old is said to still be undergoing tests for sickness in connection with the holiday, which occurred in April.
A spokesman for tour operator youtravel.com stated that the organisation is conducting an investigation into the claim.
