Nicolas Cage to sue former co-star for libel

Nicolas Cage to sue former co-star for libel

Actor Nicholas Cage has begun legal proceedings against Kathleen Turner over comments she made about him in her autobiography.

Turner, who co-starred with Cage in the 1986 film Peggy Sue Got Married, accused him of drink driving on two occasions and of stealing a dog.

She also alleges that he caused problems on the set of the film in a bid to prove he had not been selected to act in it as a result of the presence of director Francis Ford Coppola, who was his uncle.

Cage has since spoken out against the claims and has issued libel proceedings against her at London's high court.

A spokesman for the actor stated: "The libel action follows false allegations that appear in the forthcoming autobiography. As legal proceedings have been commenced, it would be inappropriate to comment further."

Born in 1964, Cage has starred in a number of films, including Face Off, City of Angels and Gone in 60 Seconds.
