Bus driver claims dismissal was unfair
A female coach driver who was sacked over an alleged discrepancy involving two bus tickets has taken her case to an employment tribunal, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
Finley Taylor, who was employed by Mike de Courcey Travel, a passenger transport provider based in Warwickshire and the West Midlands, was dismissed after being accused of dishonesty.
The company claims that an inspector discovered the ticket discrepancies on a bus carrying schoolchildren.
At a employment tribunal hearing in Birmingham, Ms Taylor denied she had done anything wrong and her defence suggested that one of the children involved had not wanted a ticket.
Her defence also accused the bus company of failing to conduct a proper investigation following the incident, adding that the schoolchildren may have caused the confusion.
The case has been adjourned until December in order to enable more witnesses to give evidence.
One of the things it will consider is whether the company conducted the correct disciplinary dismissal procedure.
